What is a Tithe?
A tithe is simply the first tenth part of our income, systematically set apart for God. In one sense, if we have given our love to Christ, all that we own is His, but in a more specific sense God has laid claim to that first tenth of our income.
What is an Offering?
An offering is regular gift amount over, above, and in addition to that which we give in tithes. It is important to note that even when we give our tithes, this does not negate our giving an offering at that same time.
God has taught us much about giving:
• 2 Corinthians 8:9
• Matthew 14:19-21
• “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7.
